Description
Every great piece of music has a story—but so does the person who wrote or performed it.
Amazing Overcomers is a small-group class that introduces students to remarkable individuals whose lives demonstrate courage, perseverance, resilience, and hope. Through engaging storytelling, students will discover how ordinary people overcame extraordinary obstacles while using their gifts to make a lasting impact on the world.
Our first series, Music That Changed the World, features six inspiring musicians whose stories continue to encourage people of all ages.

What Students Need:
📄 Paper
✏️ Pencil
A curious mind and a willingness to listen are the only other supplies required!
Amazing Overcomers is designed to inspire students through timeless stories of courage and character while introducing them to some of the world’s greatest music and musicians.
A Note to Parents
The purpose of Amazing Overcomers is to introduce students to individuals whose lives demonstrate perseverance, courage, creativity, service, and other admirable virtues.
As far as I know, the only historical figure who lived a perfect life is Jesus Christ. As we study these biographies, our focus will not be on presenting heroes without flaws, but on learning from the qualities and choices that enabled them to overcome significant obstacles and make meaningful contributions to the world.
Whenever possible, I intentionally select individuals whose stories encourage character, resilience, and hope. My goal is to help students appreciate the good, think thoughtfully about history, and be inspired to develop these same virtues in their own lives.

Attendance
Amazing Overcomers is designed to be an interactive discussion class. Because each meeting features a different person and story, missed classes cannot be made up.
Missed Classes
If your child is unable to attend, you will still receive the weekly follow-up email with music suggestions, videos, and additional resources to enjoy at home. I will also include a brief class recap so your child can stay connected with the series.
Technology
Students should join class with a working microphone and camera whenever possible so everyone can participate in our conversations.
Class Size
To encourage meaningful discussion, Amazing Overcomers is intentionally kept small so every student has the opportunity to participate.
Participation
Every child is encouraged to participate, but no one will ever be pressured to speak. Some students enjoy sharing often, while others prefer to listen and contribute when they’re ready. Both are welcome in Story Explorers.
